Metal Heart
"« Anthology II » du groupe français Akphaezya est un album relativement déroutant et complexe. Les influences du groupe vont du classique, en passant par le lyrique, le piano bar, le jazz, le death métal, la musique orientale « The Secret Of time »…. Et d’autres styles encore… Il est d’ailleurs assez difficile de donner réellement un style à ce que fait le groupe. C’est un album que l’on peut classifier d’alternatif et de progressif. Les morceaux ont des structures « déstructurées » qui semblent aller dans tout les sens tout en gardant une certaine mélodie. Le piano a une place très importante dans chacun des morceaux. Ce succèdent ainsi passages plutôt atmosphériques, d’autres complètement classiques, d’autres très lourds aux riffs et à la rythmique métal, tout cela dans le même morceau. Le chant de Nehl Aëlin est très varié, passant du lyrique au chant oriental sans aucun problème, une vocaliste talentueuse.
« Anthology II » est la première partie d’une série de cinq albums, chaque partie étant elle-même découpée en chapitres et titres. C’est un monde bien différent que nous fait découvrir Akphaezya avec son « Anthology II ». En mélangeant tout ses styles et genres, le groupe a su créer un son et une musique particulière et atypique, un peu comme le fait Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. C’est le genre d’album qu’il faut aborder avec une ouverture d’esprit musicale très grande, personnellement j’adhère et j’apprécie cette musique, maintenant est-ce que le public suivra ? J’espère que oui car les compositions et les arrangements sont riches et pleines d’émotions.

« Anthology II » of the French group Akphaezya is an album relatively disconcerting and complex. The influences of the group are going from classic, through lyric, piano bar, jazz, death metal, oriental music « The Secret Of time »….more other styles…besides it is rather difficult the really give a style to what is doing the group. It is an album that we could qualify of alternative and progressive. The tracks have “destructured” structures which seem to go in different ways all keeping a certain melody. The piano has a very important place in each of the song. So are succeeding rather atmospheric passages, others completely classic, and others very heavy with metal riffs and rhythmic, the all of it in the same track. Nehl aëlin’s vocals are much varied, going to lyric to oriental vocals without any problem, a very talented vocalist.
« Anthology II » is the first part of a set of five albums, each part being itself structured in chapters and titles. It is a really different world that makes us discovering Akphaezya with its
« Anthology II ». By mixing all these styles and genres, the group has known to create a sound and a particular and atypical music, a little like does Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. It is the kind of album which needs to be approach with a very wide musical open mind, personally I adhere and appreciate this music, now will the public will be following it?
I hope so because the compositions and the arrangements are rich and full of feelings.
